The Olympic village can be a monotonous place between competitions, with many athletes choosing to fight it out on the Xbox or retire to their rooms with a book to pass the time.
But one of the more inventive entertainment ideas has come from the German cycling team, who decided to have a ‘quad off’, while New Zealand cyclist Greg Henderson tweeted the results to the world – and the pictures are intriguing to say the least.
The ‘smaller’ pair of thighs (would you say that to his face?) belong to André Greipel, while the super-sized monsters are those of Robert Förstemann – the 2010 UCI Track Cycling world champion in team sprints.
It’s probably not the best Olympic preparation, losing a competition before the Games have even started, but it seemed to entertain them and certainly entertained us at Metro Sport.
But remember, don’t try this at home – the results are unlikely to be so impressive!
